YDRR-20 at Ford Brownstown

In early 1999, a well organized group of concerned citizens asserted themselves and put CSXT and Conrail on notice that the increased train traffic as a result of the Conrail acquisition was of major concern to the community. Conrail responded by upgrading a few grade crossings, and by inviting Operation Lifesaver to community meetings. Conrail also rotated a few Operation Lifesaver GP15's through the River Rouge Yard engine pool, thereby advertising the program to the neighborhoods expecting the increase in rail traffic on the usually quiet Lincoln Secondary.

Here we see one such unit, Conrail 1680, parked at Ford Brownstown in April 1999.
