We are looking south from the north shore of Otter Creek at 10:40am in LaSalle, Michigan on April 14th, 2000. This northbound 19M has just passed CP-LASALLE at milepost 40.2 on track #2 with PRR 4044, an ex-Conrail B23-7 leading NS 8902, a C40-9W. We are happy it was in that order. Monroe County, MI, is situated on a former lake bed next to Lake Erie and is as flat as an LP record. One wonders if there is a county ordnance against the planting of trees, since they seem the exclusive domain of creek valleys and railroad right of ways.
