If I had a favorite locomotive when I was growing up, it had to be any one of a number of Alco road switchers. Those Alligators sure looked cool from here. I would not see an Alco in real life until 1994 when I witnessed the last days of CP C636's and C424's in Michigan on run-through trains over CSX from Detroit to Chicago.
