Pontiac Yard once served several large General Motors plants in the Pontiac area. While a few remain, many have been closed. This particular Sunday saw little activity as most of the plants had no Sunday shifts at this point; the country was deep in recession and the snowballing effect of future, and immenent, plant closures were beginning to be felt in a permanent way. GTW would retire all of its switchers, including this one, by the mid 1980's.
