Penn Central SW1 8429

Penn-Central 8429, one of 152 EMD SW1 switchers purchased by New York Central, idles at Albany-Rennsallaer in March of 1971. He is coupled to a waiting consist of steam-heated passenger equipment. This photo was taken at the north end of the platform; the truss bridge in the background no longer exists, but the low-level platforms remain, making this station a good candidate for railfanning.
